The Fourth of July will be in full swing this year. The City of San Clemente is celebrating the 4th of July with a fireworks show starting at 9PM. But the annual activities will start long before the nighttime festivities.
At 10 AM, San Clemente is carrying on the proud tradition of the Office Chair Downhill Derby – which is part soapbox racing, part spring break-style party – where dozens of brave racers modify office chairs, put on costumes, and hurl themselves down a quarter-mile gauntlet. The race starts starts at Avenida Rosa and ends at the intersection of Avenida Santa Barbara and Calle Seville. Many locals chase glory on the most patriotic day of the year.

At 5:55 PM, the Condor Squadron made up of 4 AT-6 WW2 training aircraft will fly over the city.
At 9 PM, the fireworks will be shot from the end of the pier which will be closed down at noon to prepare for the show. The Fisherman’s Restaurant and Bar will be open. Ocean access 1,000 feet in both directions of the Pier will be closed at 8 PM. The purpose is to protect people from the dangers of fireworks fallout.
Friendly Reminder: The use of drones or any unmanned aircraft over any city-permitted events, unless granted written or electronic permission by the city, is prohibited. Dogs are also not permitted on the coastal trail on July 4th.
